Dr. Tom Gallaher welcomes Dr. Matthew Becker to Gallaher Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery! During his third year of general surgery residency, Dr. Becker began helping plastic surgeons undergoing immediate reconstruction after he’d performed a mastectomy. He was amazed by how a surgeon with an artistic eye and a knowledge of anatomy could create a new breast. Dr. Becker was so impressed by the impact reconstructive surgery can have by restoring physical features damaged by disease that he selected plastic and reconstructive surgery as his specialty.
Dr. Becker has won several prestigious awards for his research and articles on breast cancer. He has also received numerous scholastic achievement awards, including Outstanding Chief Resident at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
"I consider it a privilege to get to know and work with my patients; applying my medical knowledge, artistic ability and surgical technique to develop an optimal plan for obtaining their goals."
Dr. Becker is looking forward to serving the Knoxville and surrounding communities as well as getting back into activities he enjoys, such as running, wakeboarding, cooking, painting and traveling with his wife Chandra.
