What is Botox®?

Botox® is an injectable treatment that is used to diminish the appearance of wrinkles in and around the forehead area. It can also be used for the treatment of hyperhidrosis, otherwise known as excessive sweating. The Botox® formula is largely composed of botulinum toxin, which has the ability to block nerve signals to the brain. When injected into the muscles or sweat glands, Botox® blocks nerve signals that cause these parts of the body to become active. With muscles relaxed, wrinkles diminish and are prevented from worsening. Similarly, sweat glands are not activated, reducing symptoms of excessive sweating. When addressing facial wrinkles and lines, Botox® can be used for the following concerns:

How Much Does Botox® Cost?

At Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa MD, we take a personalized approach to every Botox® procedure. This means that the cost of your treatment will depend on variables like your current condition and unique treatment goals. As a result, we cannot provide you with the exact cost of treatment until you visit us in-office for a consultation. What is the Botox® Treatment Like?

The Botox® treatment is quite tolerable, but we often apply a topical anesthetic to the skin before administering injections. During the injection process, we will make multiple injections into and around the desired treatment area. The exact number of injections will depend on your specific treatment plan. The injection process takes only a few minutes, which means that the full Botox® treatment can be performed in under 30 minutes.

What is Recovery Like Following Botox®?

There is no downtime after the Botox® treatment, but you may notice some minor swelling or redness around the treatment areas. These effects typically fade within a day or two. Still, you should be able to return to work and other normal activities immediately after your appointment.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Botox®?

The results from Botox® will gradually become visible as botulinum toxin takes effect in the body. You can expect to notice the full results of treatment within a week, although you may notice some results earlier. Botox® produces results that last for about four to six months, which can be easily prolonged with maintenance treatments.
